October is Manufacturing Month in Michigan, a statewide initiative that brings together Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, the MiSTEM Network, and local industry partners to celebrate the state’s manufacturing sector and promote career opportunities for students.

As part of this effort, Lake Superior State University hosted Manufacturing Day on October 16 at the Cisler Center, welcoming 320 ninth-grade students from across the Eastern Upper Peninsula.

Throughout the day, students rotated through seven hands-on manufacturing stations, where they learned about advanced manufacturing processes, robotics, and career pathways from local companies and organizations.
Participating partners included Precision Edge, Cloverland Electric Cooperative, TN Michigan, LSSU Robotics, Louisiana-Pacific Corporation, Northern Wings, and Carmeuse, along with UP Michigan Works and the Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation.

Manufacturing Day is one of many ways regional partners are helping prepare students for success in high-skill, high-wage, and high-demand careers.

These opportunities are made possible thanks to community support for the Career and Technical Education (CTE) millage. The millage gives students the chance to explore rewarding career paths and build the skills our local industries need.

Supporting Students with ADHD

ADHD affects a student’s ability to focus and sustain attention toward goals. Some students may need extra support to make progress in school.

Our EUPISD School Psychologists lead evaluations to understand how attention challenges impact learning. Students may qualify for special education services under Other Health Impairment (OHI).

The ISD also provides teacher training, classroom strategies, and ongoing support to help every learner stay engaged and successful.
