As we enter the final weeks of our school year, take some time to reflect on your contributions this year.

Educators do incredibly important work, building and nurturing relationships, and expanding opportunities and learning for our students. Regardless of your role in working with the children and families of our communities, your impact is powerful. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE! You may not see the immediate impact you have on others but know it does not go unnoticed! Celebrate the accomplishments of the year and also celebrate your contributions!

While this time of the year brings milestones and special activities, it also brings the budget season to Lansing. The governor has made her recommendations as has the House and the Senate. It is imperative that the legislators collaborate and produce an on-time budget that strongly supports PK-12 education. A state budget is legally required by July 1 each year, but this deadline was completely ignored last year and was not passed until October. A timely budget will allow schools to make critical hiring decisions and plan appropriately for the next year. Please urge your legislators to work in a transparent, timely manner on behalf of our students.

Don’t forget to vote on Tuesday, May 5, 2026! The regional Career and Technical Education millage proposal is on the ballot in Chippewa, Luce, and Mackinac Counties. In the St. Ignace and Tahquamenon districts, there are also school operating millage proposals.
