April 2024 Newsletter

I hope that you were able to spend some time over the spring break re-energizing for the last quarter of the year. Charles M. Schultz once wrote, “Life is like a ten-speed bicycle. Most of us have gears we never use.”  It is especially challenging to push ourselves to complete goals or new learning when we are less than fully charged. Take a mental break, spend a few minutes stretching, drink some water, or play with friends and family to re-charge. And then, tackle the unused gears and accomplish much in the last quarter!

The EUPISD and EUPConnect Collaborative continue to push for all of our region to have secure and reliable broadband connectivity. We know we still have underserved and unserved areas. Michigan is receiving $1.6 billion (that’s a B!) to upgrade internet infrastructure via the BEAD program. Please take a few minutes to participate in the Merit Bead Challenge Process. Individuals can assess their connectivity and speed. Anchor institutions, such as schools, hospitals, libraries, and municipalities can also see what is being reported and provide challenges to false information. Incorrect mapping results in less funding for our area.

The EUP School Board Association will host their spring meeting and the Employees of the Year Dinner, May 7th at 6:30 p.m. Thank you to Pickford Public Schools for hosting the event. We look forward to honoring each district’s employees of the year!
