Ms. Cara DeNuccio
EUP Consortium of Care Social Worker
As a School Social Worker, Cara supports the development of age appropriate self-regulation, social skills, problem solving, and independence. Cara provides consultative services to teachers and other staff members to ensure each student has full access to their educational environment. Additionally, Cara provides crisis intervention, conducts mental health screenings in order to develop therapeutic treatment plans for at risk students, facilitates intervention groups aligned with student needs, and serves as a liaison between school and parents.
After several management positions at nonprofits in lower Michigan, Cara began working in schools in 2011. She was first employed as a paraprofessional and then spent 7 years as an elementary Intervention Specialist. As Intervention Specialist, her focus was on behavior planning for Tier 2 and Tier 3 students and creating and providing interventions that support SEL and teach emotional regulation to individual students and whole classrooms.
