Ms. Kariann Paoli

Kariann is the Native Nutrition Facilitator for the eastern upper peninsula school districts under the LifeSPAN project through the federal SNAP-Ed grant. She is responsible for implementing lessons from the 13 Moons of Anishinaabe Nutrition, a culturally relevant curriculum.  In addition to facilitating nutrition lessons in classrooms, Kariann works with the LifeSPAN team to create sustainable change within our communities, focusing on increasing healthy food access and free/low cost physical activity opportunities.

Kariann previously worked as a child care aide for the Sault Tribe Child Care Center for eight years.  During that time, she worked with children 0-5 years in age and aided the teachers in implementing their lesson plans.  She also worked along side the native instructor to engage the children in native teachings, such as the 7 Grandfather Teachings and learning the Anishinaabe language.
