• The safety of our EUPISD students and staff is our highest priority. With increased cases of COVID in our region and the Delta variant increasing throughout the state, there are concerns about our medically fragile students and our young student population, who are unable to be vaccinated. The current CDC guidelines recommend anyone in a school setting wear a mask. A mask is required for those riding on a school bus. Our local health departments support these recommendations.

Maintaining our programs throughout quarantines for staff and students last year was an issue. If mitigation efforts, including masking, are being followed this year, the quarantine requirement only extends to those within 3 feet, not 6 feet, of any positive cases.
After much discussion, the EUPISD Board of Education passed the following motion: Universal, indoor masking will be required for all EUPISD staff and students, regardless of work location, beginning Monday August 23.

Local school boards will be determining what is the protocol for their individual district. We are looking forward to a great school year and appreciate the community support of our staff and students.
