Continuous Improvement: Ongoing and Intentional
A continuous improvement process is systematic and aligned. Engaging in this process encourages assessment of needs, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. Comprehensive strategic planning informs district systems to support school level implementation.
A district or building-level continuous improvement process should reflect the "real work" of the district; it should consist of on-going improvement cycles focused on meeting the needs of the Whole Child through the Whole School and the Whole Community; it should also address systems to support implementation of the entire plan.
The process begins with assessing needs which should inform a continuous improvement plan that articulates the vital behaviors of implementation for staff to support and monitor throughout the year. Strategies should be evaluated for fidelity and the impact on the whole child. Implementation stages overlap each other and tend to be complex and non-linear in nature.
