Ms. Katia Hughes

Transition Coordinator/Special Education Supervisor

Katia is a Transition Coordinator/Special Education Supervisor for the EUPISD. As a Transition Coordinator she provides support to teachers of special education students aged 14-26 in achieving their post-secondary goals. Some of Katia’s responsibilities include coordinating the Summer YOU work program, Transition Council, and MDE B13  Monitoring. As a Special Education Supervisor Katia provides support to the Project SEARCH program to ensure the implementation of special education supports and services. Katia has a passion for supporting student academic achievement and social participation through promoting occupation within all school routines. She believes in assisting individuals to fulfill their role as students through prevention, promotion, and intervention strategies for improved health and well-being in preparation for college, career, and community integration.

Katia is a Registered/Licensed Occupational Therapist. She previously worked for MyMichigan Medical Center Sault as a contracted occupational therapist providing school-based services at the EUPISD Learning Center and Rudyard Area Schools.
