Positive Behavioral Interventions & Support for Students with ASD
The Eastern Upper Peninsiula was the host site of the Statewide Autism Resources and Training Project (START) 2011-2013 Intensive Training Series. The Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) for Students with ASD module was a team-based training on the principles of PBIS for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Participants gained an understanding of the 3-tiered model of PBIS as well as the problem solving process of functional behavioral assessment (FBA) and positive behavior support plan development. Participants learned to collect relevant data and use that information to guide the development of behavioral strategies. Specific behavioral strategies effective for students with ASD were also addressed.
